At 14:20 on March 28, 2025, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake occurred in Myanmar. According to the official measurement of the China Earthquake Networks Center, the epicenter was 21.85 degrees north latitude and 95.95 degrees east longitude, with a focal depth of 30 kilometers. Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, felt the earthquake strongly, and the shaking lasted for several minutes; Xishuangbanna, Dehong, Kunming, Lijiang, Baoshan, Dali and other places in Yunnan Province, China felt the earthquake significantly, and houses were damaged and people were injured due to the earthquake. There were also reports of earthquakes in Guizhou, Guangxi and other places.
After the incident, multiple national arrays deployed across the country detected the event. Among them, the long-term monitoring array of the Baihetan Reservoir near the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan recorded clear earthquake waveforms; the array conducting real-time monitoring at a certain oil and gas field fracturing site successfully recorded the event; the induced earthquake monitoring system more than 3,000 kilometers away from the epicenter successfully recorded the event and issued an alarm; the array conducting environmental impact assessment at a coal mine operation site also recorded obvious waveforms.
Although this huge earthquake is not our main observation target, the successful monitoring of earthquake waveforms thousands of kilometers away fully highlights the advantages of our equipment's real-time transmission technology and high-sensitivity detectors. At the same time, multiple real-time monitoring projects have successfully issued alarms, proving the reliability of our microseismic monitoring platform in multiple fields such as fracturing monitoring, induced earthquakes and environmental impact assessment.
