🔍 High-Resolution Near-Surface Investigation with GN309 (2 Hz)
In a recent urban utility survey in Guangzhou, China, GN309 nodal seismographs were deployed to investigate a buried sewage culvert using ambient-noise surface-wave methods.
Project highlights:
📍 Location: Guangzhou, Guangdong
🎯 Objective: Underground sewage culvert detection
🟦 Equipment: 30 × GN309 (2 Hz)
📐 Layout: Rectangular grid, 1 m receiver spacing & line spacing
⏱ Acquisition time: 20 minutes
By combining high-quality field data with our surface-wave processing software, the dispersion images show strong energy concentration and excellent continuity.
After adjusting the contour display range, a clear ~2 m × 1 m × 1 m low-velocity anomaly becomes visible, consistent with the known position of the underground sewage culvert.
📉 The low-velocity zone (3–5 m horizontally from the line end and 7–8 m in depth) reflects a lower-density structure, demonstrating the high-resolution near-surface imaging capability of GN309 at 2 Hz, even in complex urban environments.
🎥 The accompanying video shows the surface-wave processing workflow and results, highlighting how GN309 supports reliable detection of shallow underground utilities and voids.
